Andy Ashworth (Kay Street Baptist)
Full Name : Andy Ashworth
Position : Goalkeeper

Andy was the most experienced member of the squad but relatively new to playing in goal. He started out as a striker in his younger years but regrets not changing earlier.  A real leader from the back and a strong character in the dressing room, Andy has an heroic presence. Known as much for his off-the-pitch controversies and encouragement, his shot–stopping is second to none at this level and he commands his area superbly. Unfortunately picked up an injury to his thumb at the end of the 2009/10 season which kept him out for the summer months. That didn't stop him winning the Manager's Player of the Season – showing how highly rated he is by Daniel Bower. Thankfully the big man recovered and played 90 minutes in every league game the following season. He was also a big part in the 2011/12 Division 3 Championship winning campaign but retired at the end of that season due to a persistent back injury. He is still involved off the pitch and follows his son excel in defence. Andy made an emotional return for his testimonial in 2015.
